Local birding: Brockholes Wetland LWT - 22nd Oct 2008.

Above: Resident in the area for weeks, this Green Sandpiper looks set to winter.
Below: This small & demure, presumably female 1stw Med Gull dropped in briefly at 17:20 with Black-headed Gulls for a pre-roost wash and preen before flying SW downriver.

c50 Pink-footed Geese on No1 Pit early afternoon before flying SW was the largest grounded number to be recorded since observations began back in 1998. The juv Garganey continues to show well on the Main Pool. November creeps ever closer, will it remain until then?
